When you inquire about a dog, the following questions might be helpful:

1. Why are you giving up your dog?

2. Has the dog ever bitten, nipped or 'gone after' anyone?

3. Does it have any health problems? Who is your vet? May I contact him/her?

4. Where did you get the dog? Does it have papers?

5. Does your dog have any training? Is it housebroken? crate trained?

6. Is the dog left alone for long periods? What does it do? Bark? Dig? Chew? Is it an inside or outside dog? Where does it sleep?

7. How does the dog behave with adults, children? Other dogs? Cats?

8. Is your dog mellow? calm? energetic? protective? affectionate?

 

I am fostering Heidi and have had her since June 11, 2025, but have known her since 2021. Heidi was born May 2019, so she’s 6. She’s never been around other dogs so we’re getting her acclimated. She’s good with my 11 year old Labrador outside on walks and on the deck. Initially she might be better as an only dog or with a calm dog.

Probably no cats but from I’ve seen she could possibly get along with cats eventually.

She LOVES people. LOVES them.

She is a dream in the house and car. Lays right down and is calm. No pacing, no whining. No issues in the crate.

She might have a food allergy, so we have her on a hydrolyzed diet.

She was in a situation with an older woman who passed away. This senior loved Heidi but she didn’t get much exercise or socialization. She’s confident but unsure as everything is new to her.

She’s a great dog.
