When you inquire about a dog, the following questions might be helpful:

1. Why are you giving up your dog?

2. Has the dog ever bitten, nipped or 'gone after' anyone?

3. Does it have any health problems? Who is your vet? May I contact him/her?

4. Where did you get the dog? Does it have papers?

5. Does your dog have any training? Is it housebroken? crate trained?

6. Is the dog left alone for long periods? What does it do? Bark? Dig? Chew? Is it an inside or outside dog? Where does it sleep?

7. How does the dog behave with adults, children? Other dogs? Cats?

8. Is your dog mellow? calm? energetic? protective? affectionate?

About my Dog: Maximus: (aka Max, Maxi-poo)
Located: Folsom, California

"Max" is a beautiful German Shepherd, 8 & half yr old (born 10-10-16), is approx. 85-90 lb. He is a neutered male dog who is loyal, protective and affectionate.

Some characteristics of Max:

1) Max is an alert dog. Needs a smooth introduction with friends and family, once acquainted he is a big lap dog. Max is good with the children as he lives with them, ages 5-1/2  & 2-1/2 yrs old.

2) Max is OK with other dogs, slow introduction helps him acclimate. We haven't introduced him to cats or other animals.

3) Max is housetrained and does well when left in the house alone, goes well with 6-8 hours all by himself. He sleeps in a large wire enclosure on his bed at night.

4) Max had received formal obedience training when he was a year & half. He knows all basic commands, he is definitely food oriented, walks great on a leash, greets with a bark with other dogs, we use a prong collar to effectively redirect Max’s attention. Max has a great recall and loves to hang out with us in our backyard.

5) Max enjoys his car rides, though he whines at first, otherwise is a polite passenger.

6) Max enjoys playing fetch, hide & seek, and squeaky toys. He is not a fan of water, and will take a dip but not so much of a swimmer.

Max is healthy overall, but does suffer from mild ear infections that require routine cleaning. Max is up to date on his vaccines (rabies & distemper/parvo boosters) and he tested negative on heart-worm test last month.

We took him from another family 7 years ago when they were about to surrender him to a shelter, he was a year and half old when we got him. Max has always been a valued family member of our family and we love him.

Unfortunately, over the last 3 years my son started developing extremely severe allergies because of Max, hence I have been looking to rehome him for quite some time now.
