When you inquire about a dog, the following questions might be helpful:

1. Why are you giving up your dog?

2. Has the dog ever bitten, nipped or 'gone after' anyone?

3. Does it have any health problems? Who is your vet? May I contact him/her?

4. Where did you get the dog? Does it have papers?

5. Does your dog have any training? Is it housebroken? crate trained?

6. Is the dog left alone for long periods? What does it do? Bark? Dig? Chew? Is it an inside or outside dog? Where does it sleep?

7. How does the dog behave with adults, children? Other dogs? Cats?

8. Is your dog mellow? calm? energetic? protective? affectionate?

 

Oso is 5 years old and is looking for a human to match his energy. He loves walks (or even better a running partner) and to smell/explore trails. He loves any body of water and will also play fetch.

He is potty trained and will let you know when he needs to go. He is good at sitting and waiting/staying until given all clear for food / treats.

Please be aware due to previous shelter environment he does resource guard (once given) food/water. He has previous good experience with babies and young children. His paws are desensitized for trims and wipes (muddy days). He will also communicate if he needs a moment of reassurance/space.

Oso has no dietary restrictions and would enjoy being your dedicated kitchen composter.

He plays well with other dogs but can get jealous, proper introductions are needed.
Oso is an escape artist when left alone too long but will stay on leash. He wants to be where people are and would like to revisit his favorite sniff spots regularly.
Ideally, he would be the only dog in your life.

He is not a fan of felines.

Oso also enjoys belly rubs, brushings, and shaking your hand (giving paw). He is eager to please and be your best bud!
