Adopters

When you inquire about a dog, the following questions might be helpful:

1. Why are you giving up your dog?

2. Has the dog ever bitten, nipped or 'gone after' anyone?

3. Does it have any health problems? Who is your vet? May I contact him/her?

4. Where did you get the dog? Does it have papers?

5. Does your dog have any training? Is it housebroken? crate trained?

6. Is the dog left alone for long periods? What does it do? Bark? Dig? Chew? Is it an inside or outside dog? Where does it sleep?

7. How does the dog behave with adults, children? Other dogs? Cats?

8. Is your dog mellow? calm? energetic? protective? affectionate?

Hi, my name is Snickers and I am a very energetic, confident, and smart 1-1/2 year old German Shepherd looking for my furever home. I am friendly when meeting new people, playful, and very toy motivated; last month I weighed in at 81 pounds. I need to tell you about where I’ve been…

My first home was in an apartment kitchen….not the best place for a German Shepherd puppy, right? After 8 months, the lady of the house realized that it wasn’t fair for me to be confined to an apartment so she reached out to K94Kids, thank God. Rob and his team worked on basic training with me for 2 months. It was wonderful to feel the love and start learning things. Next, due to the kennels being full, I was returned to the breeder. She re-homed me again quickly. Fingers crossed that this would be my furever home. These folks didn’t pay a lot of attention to me and I was found wandering around the neighborhood by animal control. Yikes, what next? So I found myself at a shelter. I am grateful that Rob took me in again.

I am happy to be here and my training has resumed, but I’d really like to go to my furever home! I would do best with a person who has prior experience with GSDs or similar breeds. I need to be with an active person who has time to take care of me, give me attention, take me places, and continue with my training. (I know sit, down, come, heel, and stay.) I need lots of exercise and activity. I think I’d do best being the only pet in the house as I haven’t spent much time around other dogs, kids, or cats.

If you think you might be the right person for me, please contact Robert Yurosko at robert@k94kids.org or 408-806-5277. A home visit will take place before my adoption and there will be a $100 adoption fee.
