Adopters

When you inquire about a dog, the following questions might be helpful:

1. Why are you giving up your dog?

2. Has the dog ever bitten, nipped or 'gone after' anyone?

3. Does it have any health problems? Who is your vet? May I contact him/her?

4. Where did you get the dog? Does it have papers?

5. Does your dog have any training? Is it housebroken? crate trained?

6. Is the dog left alone for long periods? What does it do? Bark? Dig? Chew? Is it an inside or outside dog? Where does it sleep?

7. How does the dog behave with adults, children? Other dogs? Cats?

8. Is your dog mellow? calm? energetic? protective? affectionate?

Bio:
Meet Ike! This gorgeous boy is about eight years old, weighs 100 lbs., and is fully house-trained. The volunteers and staff at the Humane Society of the North Bay in Vallejo (where he currently resides) describe Ike as "playful, intelligent, alert, very good-natured," and "a real gentleman."

He is people and dog-friendly and has a calm, easy-going demeanor. Ike walks beautifully on leash and is considered a "green dog" by the shelter staff - which means even the newest dog walkers can take him out for walks. He knows a few basic commands and is eager to learn more, especially how to take treats gently from your hand.

Ike enjoys going on walks, playing with his toys, and going on outings. He has good house manners and rides well in the car. A volunteer who recently took him home for an overnight stay-cation reports that he was an "easy companion" and seemed very content to curl up by her feet while she worked on her computer. Play with him, and he responds like a puppy, showing incredible gratitude!

Those who know him feel he will do best with someone who is willing to keep him mentally challenged through play and physically stimulated with daily exercise. He is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccines, and has moderate energy. This lovely dog has no known health issues.
