When you inquire about a dog, the following questions might be helpful:

1. Why are you giving up your dog?

2. Has the dog ever bitten, nipped or 'gone after' anyone?

3. Does it have any health problems? Who is your vet? May I contact him/her?

4. Where did you get the dog? Does it have papers?

5. Does your dog have any training? Is it housebroken? crate trained?

6. Is the dog left alone for long periods? What does it do? Bark? Dig? Chew? Is it an inside or outside dog? Where does it sleep?

7. How does the dog behave with adults, children? Other dogs? Cats?

8. Is your dog mellow? calm? energetic? protective? affectionate?

This big goofball is Samson and he needs his perfect forever home. I've been fostering him for almost a year from an older man that couldn't take care of him for whatever reason and left him at my work. When I first brought him home, it was pretty obvious he had been abused at some point in his life but with a lot of work and love, he's learned to trust people again. He needs a kind but consistent and firm leader to continue his training so he can live up to his full potential.
Samson is about 3 years old, neutered, 83 lbs and up to date on his vaccines. He loves other dogs(medium or larger) but has a high prey drive. He is obsessed with cats and livestock, and I wouldn't recommend him for a home with small dogs or young children either. He will thrive in an active home, ideally with a large fenced in area to get out his extra zoomies out too.
Samson has a lot of love to give, and I would love to keep him, but having cats and goats, I can't. He's just a big sweetheart who wants to explore, swim, go on car rides, play, and cuddle.
I just really want to make sure he goes to the right home, as he doesn't do well in shelter/kennel situations.
