Adopters

When you inquire about a dog, the following questions might be helpful:

1. Why are you giving up your dog?

2. Has the dog ever bitten, nipped or 'gone after' anyone?

3. Does it have any health problems? Who is your vet? May I contact him/her?

4. Where did you get the dog? Does it have papers?

5. Does your dog have any training? Is it housebroken? crate trained?

6. Is the dog left alone for long periods? What does it do? Bark? Dig? Chew? Is it an inside or outside dog? Where does it sleep?

7. How does the dog behave with adults, children? Other dogs? Cats?

8. Is your dog mellow? calm? energetic? protective? affectionate?

Lucy is a pro at making everyone she meets fall in love with her! This darling little girl is a big and lovable lady but with short stocky legs that add so much charm to her. She is looking for a loving home where she can be the apple of her family's eye as their only pet or with a family that understands she still might need a slower introduction with dog friends. Lucy would love a home where she can get lots of exercise to move those little legs of hers and hopefully with a nice dog bed to snuggle up in upon your return- she also wouldn't say no to joining you on the couch for cuddle time, in fact, that would be her top choice!

Lucy was really frazzled when she first left the shelter. She was reactive to every dog she saw. With some time to decompress and training and positive experiences, Lucy is now friendly and playful with other dogs. She would do best with a family who can continue with her leash training to make sure she continues to progress with her social skills. She still isn’t quite sure what to make of small dogs, so we think she would do better in a home with dogs her size or larger. She is currently being fostered with German Shepherds who she is happy to hang out with.

Lucy was found as a stray and brought to Hitchcock Road Animal Services where it was clear she had been used as a breeder dog and has had many litters of puppies. After a tough start in life, Lucy would love nothing more than a family to call her own.
