GSRNC 20th Anniversary
We are dedicated to the rescue and welfare of German Shepherd Dogs. Our volunteers help foster and adopt dogs to willing homes. Please help us in our efforts, for their sake.
“Every dog has a story, how it ends depends on you...”
Our homeless furry friends are in desperate need of a loving and caring home.
If you cannot adopt, any act of kindness while they wait, will change their lives forever.

Foster Homes Needed    Foster Info

Not all of our rescue Shepherds are lucky enough to go directly into a foster home; some have to start in a kennel. Every rescue dog must be in a foster home before it can be adopted. In a foster home it will experience the love, care, and attention it needs and deserves while it is waiting to be adopted and we will observe the personality of the dog to help place it in the best possible forever home.

YOU can foster a German Shepherd Dog! Our network of rescue volunteers is there to help you with advice, and Rescue pays for the care of the dog including food and authorized veterinary expenses. Won't you consider fostering a German Shepherd who wants a second chance at a happy life? Fostering is a very rewarding experience, not only for you, but for the dogs too!

Spotlight Dog

Sweet Retha has been in rescue for 1 1/2 years and this darling girl doesn't understand why she keeps being overlooked. While Retha is very much loved by her foster family, she is ready to find her forever home. Retha has so much love to give and will make someone a wonderful companion!

Retha is an almost 9-year-old senior Shepherd who is all black with a few silver patches. She is a low-key, easy to live with house dog.

Retha has free run of the house and yard and sleeps in an open crate in the living room (her choice). She also knows how to use a dog door, if you have one, but it's not necessary. She is not a fussy eater and will happily eat just plain kibble and loves ice cubes as treats.

Retha especially likes to sit by you and get pets; especially on her head. A household with many hands would be great for her. Retha is a large girl so no small children please as she could easily knock them over, older kids and teens would be fine. No cats or small pets.
